How Coaching Can Help You Overcome Imposter Syndrome
The psychological phenomenon: Imposter Syndrome is the feeling that you do not deserve your job. Despite your many accomplishments in the workplace you hesitate in taking risks for fear of failure.
Imposter Syndrome can negatively impact careers; often leading to procrastination and unnecessarily high standards. This can result in feelings of anxiety and depression. Additionally, some individuals may have tendencies to over-prepare and over-produce; spending more time than necessary to prove their capabilities. This actually leads to counterproductivity and burnout and can result in non-performance under pressure; as they often become unclear in how to process their feelings.
I assist clever, capable, and creative women from all walks of life in developing their abilities to lead unapologetic lives in fulfilling their potential as leaders and business owners in their own right. Since my clients often wear many hats juggling busy home lives as wives and moms of young children, they appear particularly at risk of succombing to perfectionism and burnout.
Having dealt with these tendencies personally, I take delight in watching as my clients overcome their own nemesis (Imposter Syndrome), finally feeling that they DESERVE their seat at the table.
Under my careful coaching, adults who have been previously labeled as high potential candidates, but suffering from inconsistent follow-through limitations, become effective
communicators, advocates of their own mental health and experts in overcoming procrastination.
I teach my clients how to navigate the logistics of pre/post-diagnosis, while discerning and
initiating their next steps. Under my coaching clients are helped to face their
fears and sing their song by:
- Seeing alternative solutions
- Reframing their own behavioral perspectives
- Recognizing recurring patterns of thought processes that can diminish their progress
Begin by considering a current challenge you may be facing in your life or career and how you might overcome it if you trusted yourself to do the job. Might you be able to create intentional joy for yourself and those that you love?
